The Ideal L2 Self as a Factor of Self-Motivation in Willingness to Communicate

Theoretical basis of this paper is the heuristic L2 Motivational Self System (L2MSS). The research aims to determine degree which ideal self can be regarded as a significant factor with regards its power make difference in students’ actual motivated behaviour communication. sample consists 396 students. predictor variable. Willingness communicate and obtained grades are criterion variables. Gender, period time spent learning English / German, whether students residing country where target language spoken all moderator Systematic non-experimental observation method based on Dörnyei Taguchi´s survey was used study. Cronbach’s alpha indicated high reliability presented (.92). investigated using McCroskey´s questionnaire. findings indicate rather complex picture observed MSS constructs importance their components field learning. Therefore, for further research, it suggested that should divided into two constructs: obligations individual would like comply others expect him/her with. contribution experience also considered because otherwise, difficult progress model design what do practice.
